Learning Through Play - The St. Mary's Way

Early Threes, Preschool, Pre-K, Kindergarten

For our two, three, four, and five-year-olds, we offer a developmental program designed to stimulate growth in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional development, and cognitive skills.

St. Mary's Early Childhood programs nurture and inspire curious, confident, joyful learners.

Learning through play is an instrumental part of our early childhood programs. This is combined with high-quality experiences promoting personal, social, and cognitive growth and skill development that young children need.

There's a reason why Edmond parents have chosen St. Mary's for their child's first school experience for 45 years - St. Mary's offers distinctive programs you just won't find elsewhere.

Beyond Your Average Preschool

Collaborating with parents and parent involvement is integral in our Early Childhood program. There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer and get involved within the community. Regular Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled throughout the year to benchmark students’ progress socially, emotionally and academically.

St. Mary's Early Childhood students truly benefit from being part of an exceptional elementary school. Early childhood students are enriched with specialized instruction in music, science, Spanish, PE, library, art, and chapel. Having specialized teachers in these subject areas also supports them throughout their years at SMES as they build meaningful relationships with each of these teachers.

The Early Childhood program is dedicated to the education of the whole child, which includes countless opportunities for outdoor learning and play. Our expansive campus provides rich outdoor experiences, places to explore, and lessons and activities that cultivate our students' natural curiosity about nature. It's not uncommon to see a kindergarten class practicing sight words with sidewalk chalk, a pre-k class on a nature walk, or a preschool class enhancing a lesson in one of our outdoor classrooms.

St. Mary's faculty offers a wide variety of clubs and activities each year. Popular activities that early childhood students may enroll in include Mini Pep Squad, Lego Club, Tumbling Club, and Yoga Camps.
