2022 State of the School
January 25, 2022
Dear St. Mary's Community,
Throughout this school year it has been a pleasure to greet our happy students as they enter our school building. They are deeply loved and dearly known as well as enriched in God’s love, school spirit and pride. They embody the St. Mary’s Way through their actions and words each and every day.
We, once again, have experienced wonderful growth and are so happy to have welcomed so many new families to our school community.
Student enrollment is up 25% over last year, and we look forward to our bright future as more incredible students and families continue choosing St. Mary’s for their educational start. We also welcomed 5 new faculty members this year who are already enriching the lives of our students and their colleagues with their unique gifts and talents.
Our Annual Fund campaign has had its most successful year yet with over $82,000 raised.
That number represents 240 unique gifts, and a Leadership Circle that now boasts 26 members. We are so grateful for the generosity that enriches our students learning experiences daily. We know philanthropy will continue to be a pillar of St. Mary’s School.
Our Parent Organization participation reached 100% once again this year.
We were able to enjoy activities and events hosted by the PO this fall and will continue to enjoy fun throughout the spring. We are also very excited for our Beau Geste celebration on March 5th, and hope you'll join us for a wonderful evening in support of our school.
I am also thrilled that in 2022 we will have the opportunity to expand our building to accommodate our enrollment growth.
In the near future you will see the dirt moving on the south end (early childhood side) of our building as we add 4 new classrooms. We will also have the “opportunity” to experience new car pool procedures, not a highlight of mine, so stay tuned for details.
Looking ahead, we have terrific things planned for Summer 2022.
St. Mary's has a myriad of camps that are offered during the summer months through our Summer at St. Mary's program.
Students can enjoy a variety of specialty camps with engaging themes in the month of June at KaleidEscape. Students can also enjoy summer enrichment camps in July with cheer/tumbling, 3D printing, coding, musical theatre, baking, and sewing. There are so many ways to enjoy summer at St. Mary's and we hope you'll take advantage of early enrollment offered to you this month.
As I walk the hallways I experience high-quality education in action and children doing their best. Lessons are being taught with a focus on developing student leadership and engagement. Our curriculum delivery is through authentic, relevant and meaningful experiences.
Our expert faculty, stellar curriculum and enrichment programs challenge students to their highest potential. As educators, every day we model the characteristics we hope our students embrace. Students remain the anchor for our decision-making. We embrace our deliberate focus on creating self-discipline and on helping every student find their light and share it broadly to others.
Our Board of Directors are our governing body to hold in trust the integrity of the school and to uphold our mission, goals and objectives.
The Board will ensure the legacy of St. Mary’s through continuing a focus on healthy enrollment, continued financial vitality efforts, smart stewardship of facilities and prudent board governance. To ensure our school’s future vitality and strength going forward the results from our recent parent survey will play an important part in our strategic planning. We share the vision and passion for student success and have personal stake in the performance of the school and its students.
With our 44-year history steeped in tradition, we believe in empowering our students with the tools they will need to learn about themselves and the world they live in.
We often think of what qualities a St. Mary’s Graduate should embody – and what a “Portrait of St. Mary’s Graduate” looks like. We, of course, strive to partner with parents to develop children to be kind, compassionate members of society, while also upholding the highest academic standards.
One of my favorite aspects of the Portrait of a St. Mary’s Graduate is our collective goal to help our graduates become young people who know how to take initiative for their own learning, developing autonomy and resourcefulness to excel in their middle school years and beyond.
The success of our students both now and in the future is very important to all of us. It is our honor to provide Quality Academic Programs in our Respectful Environment.
With St. Mary's Pride,
Head of School
