At St. Mary’s, we believe children grow through positive reinforcement and a creative approach to the basics. Our curriculum is centered around Language Arts & English, Reading, Science, Math, Social Studies, Music, Art, Physical Education and Spanish.

Early Childhood - Pre-School through First Grade - We offer children developmentally appropriate hands-on programs in language arts, math, science, music and programs to enhance fine and gross motor skills

Elementary Education - Second Grade through Fifth Grade - Small class size and a qualified staff provide the attention and instruction needed to bring out the very best in each student. The acquisition of exceptional reading, grammar, spelling and math skills is the goal for our elementary students.

Middle School Division - Our middle division (7th to be offered in 2012-13 and 8th in 2013-14) students will change classes and work with a team of core subject teachers in the areas of Literature/Humanities, Math, Science and History/Geography studies.
Testing
St. Mary’s students take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) test annually. This test is a nationally standardized test and accomplishes three important goals:
(1) To describe each student's developmental level within a test area.
(2) To identify a student's areas of relative strength and weakness in subject areas.
(3) To monitor year-to-year growth in the basic skills.
